Annual AECSD Training Seminar

Almaty, November 14, 2023, an AECSD Annual Training Seminar was organized by the Secretariat of the Association and the CSD of Kazakhstan. The seminar was the first event of this type in 4 years, held in a hybrid format.

The seminar was opened with welcoming remarks by the AECSD Chairman Dr. Ekrem Arikan and Kazakhstan CSD Chairman Adil Mukhamedzhanov, who noted the key role of central depositories in attracting global investment flows, as well as the role of the AECSD in spreading knowledge among its participants.

Over than 20 participants attended the seminar in person, and 100 more attendees connected online, including from countries whose depositories are not members of the AECSD, e.g., Jordan, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Indonesia, Nepal, etc. The agenda of the event included 24 speakers, among them representatives of organizations outside the AECSD — National Clearing Center, TDCC (Taiwan Depository & Clearing Corporation), Montran SRL and R3.

The business program of the seminar included questions on the IT architecture of central depositories, business continuity management of the central depository, access to local capital markets and tax functions of central depositories.

AECSD plans to continue to adhere to the hybrid format of similar events, which has proven its effectiveness and relevance.
