The WFC Conference 2023

In the period from May 24 to 26, 2023, the WFC Conference (World Forum of Central Securities Depositories — an association including AECSD and 4 other regional associations of central depositories) was held in Prague, and was attended by more than 135 central depositories, stock exchanges and clearing organizations from around the world. In total, the event was attended by more than 300 foreign guests.

This year, the WFC Conference was greeted heads and representatives of central depositories, national banks, the International Monetary Fund, the Central Bank of the European Union, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, international accounting organizations, stock exchanges and other companies.

The key topics of the event were long-term vision of industry development, promotion of cross-border investment flows, settlement efficiency, global post-trading and systemic risk, digital transformation of central depositories, FMI and DLT technologies.

Also within the framework of the event, a meeting of the WFC Board was held, according to the results of which the representative of the AECSD Participant - Deputy Chairman of the Board of KCSD Edil Medeu — was elected Chairman of the Board.

Also, due to the fact that the right to hold the WFC conference was transferred in rotation to the AECSD, KCSD, as a representative of the AECSD, was elected as the organizer and the host of the WFC Conference in 2025, thereby confirming the previously adopted decision of the Annual General Meeting of the AECSD 2022.

It is expected that the WFC Conference will attract the attention of foreign investors and financial institutions to the activities of the AECSD and its participants and will strengthen the region's ties with the international financial system.

For reference:

WFC is a unique and authoritative platform for the exchange of experience and discussion of new challenges and opportunities in the post-trading industry, where central depositories play a key role.

Traditionally, the WFC is held every two years by one of the  five regional associations: The Association of Eurasian Central Securities Depositories (AECSD)), the European Central Securities Depositories Association (ECSDA), the Association of Central Depositories of Americas (ACSDA), the Africa And Middle East Depositories Association the (AMEDA) and the Asia-Pacific CSD Group (ACG).
